What to Look for in a Freelance Marketing Consultant

As a small business, you may be considering hiring a freelance marketing consultant to help you with your marketing efforts. But what should you look for in a freelance marketing consultant? Here are a few things to consider:

1. Experience and expertise. First and foremost, you want to make sure that the freelance marketing consultant you hire has the experience and expertise necessary to help your business. Ask about their past clients and projects, and get a sense of their areas of expertise.

2. A good fit. It’s also important to make sure that the freelance marketing consultant you hire is a good fit for your business. After all, you’ll be working closely with them, so it’s important that you’re on the same page in terms of objectives and communication style.

3. A solid portfolio. Any good freelance marketing consultant should have a solid portfolio of past work to show you. This will give you a sense of their skills and abilities, and help you to see if they’re a good fit for your business.

4. Reasonable rates. When you’re hiring a freelance marketing consultant, you want to make sure that their rates are reasonable. Get quotes from a few different consultants to get a sense of what’s standard, and be sure to ask about any additional fees or charges that may apply.

By keeping these things in mind, you can be sure that you’ll find the right freelance marketing consultant for your small business.

Identifying Qualifications and Expertise

As a marketing consultant and freelancer for a small business, one of the most important things you can do is identify the qualifications and expertise of your target market. By understanding the needs and desires of your target market, you can more effectively sell your products or services. Here are a few tips to help you identify the qualifications and expertise of your target market:

1. Research your target market. This may seem obvious, but it’s important to take the time to research your target market before trying to sell to them. You need to understand their needs, wants, and pain points. Only then can you more effectively sell to them.

2. Identify their qualifications. Once you know the needs of your target market, you can start to identify their qualifications. What kind of education or experience do they have? What are their skills and abilities? By understanding their qualifications, you can more effectively sell to them.

3. Identify their expertise. In addition to understanding their qualifications, you also need to understand their expertise. What do they know about your product or service? What are their thoughts on it? By understanding their expertise, you can more effectively sell to them.

4. Use this information to your advantage. Once you’ve identified the qualifications and expertise of your target market, you can use this information to your advantage. Use it to create targeted marketing messages that resonate with them. If you can effectively sell to their qualifications and expertise, you’ll be more likely to succeed.

Where to look for a Freelance Marketing Consultant

When it comes to looking for a marketing consultant there are a lot of platforms that you can use to help you out. Eventually, everything depends on the price that you are willing to pay, but it doesn’t necessary mean that the more you are willing to pay the better marketer you will find.

Since we are talking about a small business, I’ll presume that your budget isn’t huge and you want to save as much money as possible on the marketing service.

1. Upwork. Upwork is the most popular platform that freelance use to find work. You can find freelance from all over the world here, with different levels of expertise and different pricing. For any other professional, I would definitely recommend starting your search here. But if you are looking to schedule a call with your marketing consultant from time to time, Upwork might be not the best place for you.

The main problem on the platform is that not a lot of people agree on having a live call, in some cases the reason is that the person behind the profile is simply fake, not sure how it is possible, but I’ve met a hand full of freelancers that use a fake profile that is even verified by Upwork.

2. Facebook Groups. Believe it or not, Facebook groups are still a thing. And when it comes to looking for a marketer there are a few ways to do it. One way (the lazy way) is to post directly to the group that is offering a job opportunity for marketers and wait until marketers reply to your message. Another way (active way), the better way in my opinion is to register to the marketing group and seek out the expert who is answering different questions within the group.

You can even post a few questions about your business, and see what response you going to get. Whoever replies with good feedback, you can then ask if he or she is willing to help you out with your marketing.

3. LinkedIn. Professional network that allows you to seek a professional marketer out via the search bar. Today you can look for a marketer not just by a job title, but also by a ‘Service’ category. Which makes it easier to find an expert in your industry

3. LinkedIn Page Job Posting. Similar to Facebook posts, you can post a job on your LinkedIn Page (presuming you have one), and wait until freelancers send you their resume. The difference between this method and a Facebook group is the ability to see a FULL resume of a marketer freelancer right away.

What to Expect from Your Freelance Marketing Consultant

There are a lot of things to consider when you are thinking about hiring a freelance marketing consultant for your small business. The most important thing is to find someone who you can trust and who has a good track record. Here are a few things to keep in mind when you are looking for the right person for the job:

1. Make sure that the consultant has a good understanding of marketing. This is the most important thing to look for in a consultant. Marketing is a very complex field, and you want to make sure that the person you hire knows what they are doing.

2. Ask for referrals. The best way to find a good consultant is to ask around for referrals. Talk to other small business owners who have used consultants in the past and see who they would recommend.

3. Get a proposal. Once you have found a few consultants that you are interested in, get them to send you a proposal. This will help you compare different consultants and see who can offer the best value for your money.

4. Ask questions. Once you have received proposals from a few different consultants, make sure to ask them lots of questions. This will help you understand their process and how they would approach your specific situation.

5. Make a decision. After you have done your research and asked all of the necessary questions, it is time to make a decision. Choose the consultant that you feel most comfortable with and who you think can best help your business grow.

Working Successfully with Your Freelance Marketing Consultant

As a business owner, you may be considering working with a freelance marketing consultant to help you with your marketing efforts. This can be a great way to get expert help without having to hire a full-time employee. However, there are a few things you should keep in mind to make sure the relationship is successful.

First, it’s important to be clear about your expectations. What are you hoping to achieve with your marketing? What are your goals? Be sure to communicate these to your consultant so they can help you develop a plan to reach them.

It’s also important to remember that your consultant is not a one-stop shop. They specialize in marketing, but they don’t know everything about your business. Be sure to give them the information they need to do their job, but don’t expect them to be an expert on everything.

Finally, be prepared to work with your consultant on an ongoing basis. Marketing is an ever-changing field, so you’ll need to keep working with your consultant to stay ahead of the curve. A good consultant will be flexible and adaptable, so be sure to find one that you’re comfortable working with on an ongoing basis.
